Think of the CranioSacral system as your body's internal "reset" rhythm; a gentle fluid system that protects your brain and spine, and plays a key role in how your body handles stress and tension. It stretches from the bones of your skull (Cranium) down to the base of your spine (Sacrum), hence the name: CranioSacral Therapy. Just like your heart has a pulse, and your lungs have a breath, the CranioSacral system has its own rhythmic rise and fall of cerebrospinal fluid (CFS) pressure. This vital fluid is responsible for protecting the brain from impact, regulating intracranial pressure, transporting nutrients, hormones, and signaling chemicals as well as carrying away waste.
You may feel a sense of peace or stillness, deep relaxation, gentle unwinding, clear-headedness, and may experience involuntary deep breaths or tummy curling, yawns, or emotional releases as the body relaxes and tension is released.
